10/21: Cut + Paste with Stella Fiore on Maker Park Radio

Along with my dear pal and collaborator Shelly Oria, I’ll be interviewed by Stella Fiore on Cut + Paste, her radio show. Saturday, 10/21. 10:00 AM. Maker Park Radio.

Thanks, Barcelona Review…

My story Personal Foundations of Self-Forming Through Autoidentification With Otherness–published long ago in the wonderful Barcelona Review (and originally published in BOMB)–is one of the journal’s Picks from Back Issues this week. You can read it HERE.

Hudson Valley Writers Resist: 5/20

I’ll be resisting, in my own (Nellyish) way, at this exciting event on Saturday May 20. It benefits a few organizations that are incontrovertibly worthy: the ACLU, Citizen Action NY, and the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater.

2-5 PM, Rosendale Theatre, 408 Main St., Rosendale. (Coincidentally, “Rosendale” is the title of one of the best stories ever written, the author of which happens to be Paul LaFarge, who happens to also be resisting at this event.)

Endings that Hover

I’ve found myself talking about endings with my students these past few weeks. Here’s something I wrote about endings in fiction.

The exquisite journal No Tokens now has an online version. Here’s a story I wrote with Shelly Oria that was published by No Tokens last spring.

Silent Beaches, Untold Stories ~ September, 2016

This is a book I’m incredibly excited about: conceived of and edited by one of my favorite artists and people, Elizabeth Albert, with literary input from the great Underwater New York. I’m so fortunate to have my story “Posthumous Letter from Conrad Poppenhusen to William Steinway”  included in it, along with art and writing by people like Joel Meyerowitz, Mary Mattingly, Carrie Mae Weems, Spencer Finch, Susan Choi, Ravi Howard, and Antoine Wilson.

Selected Shorts Podcast: Out of the Kitchen with Lucky Peach

This episode of Selected Shorts, Out of the Kitchen With Lucky Peach, features work from that splendid food magazine. Marc Maron, Peter Meehan, and Rosie Schaap are some of the writers with whom I’m honored to be included here. Stories are read by the likes of David Cross, Gaby Hoffman, and–for my piece, Supreme Cloud Ear–the incredible Sarah Steele.
